Dear Friends,
Get Set. Ready. Go!
When the starter's gun goes off in New York City on November 1, 2009, look for me to take off running. I will be running in the ING New York City Marathon for Fred's Team in support of the pioneering research efforts at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. My commitment to Fred's Team is to raise a minimum $3,000.00 in contributions. I am writing to ask for your help in meeting this goal.
The Aubrey Fund for Pediatric Cancer Research began in 1997. Since its inception, Fred's Team raised over $35 Million and is the primary source of support for this research. Its name, 'The Aubrey Fund' comes from a woman by the name of Aubrey Barr, who was treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as a child and was completely cured. Aubrey is a dedicated member of Fred's Team and runs several marathons a year. The Aubrey Fund research wants to put an end cancer, and with your help, we can do it - one mile at a time.
The personal satisfaction of finishing the race - which is 26.2 miles, coupled with the opportunity to help advance the efforts of such a worthy cause is a goal that is dear to my heart. Many of us have been touched by the effects of cancer. I personally lost my grandfather and two close family friends to cancer. So this is an undertaking that is most rewarding. I greatly appreciate your support in helping me fulfill both of these goals.
